6 ways to grow without blogging
Video, email, and social are outperforming blogs—here’s what you need to know

Blogging is out—everything else is in.
While blogging can still be a helpful part of some B2B marketing strategies, I’ve found that video, social media, email marketing, and other tactics can bring more success with less effort.
Let’s talk about it.
Today’s agenda:
✍️ What I’m doing instead of blogging
🔎 Stop thinking about Google
🔓 B2B emails that get opened
💼 Briefly: Inflation-proofed marketing and YouTube’s new views
⏱️ Up & coming: “Social search” is the new search
🌟 The most effective B2B marketing strategies
Blogging was once a crucial part of many B2B marketing strategies, allowing businesses to dig in-depth on a topic to establish trust and credibility and drive traffic to their websites.
Now, there are many other strategies that allow you to do the same thing in more engaging, wider-reaching formats.
▶️ In my latest video, I explain why I’ve shifted the focus from blogging—and the 6 key strategies I’m using instead:
📊 Strategies discussed in the video:
Videos (long-form and short-form)
Podcast guest appearances
Social media engagement (LinkedIn)

🤔 Think “zero-click”
Another reason blogging is becoming less effective is due to zero-click searches.
If you haven’t heard of zero-click searches before, here are some examples from Google:

AI Overviews

Basically, users get direct answers from a search without needing to click through to a website.
Zero-click was already on the rise, but AI Overviews have really tipped the needle—and businesses are noticing the drop in website traffic.
Does traffic really matter?
It depends. If it was one of your main KPIs, then yes—but CEO and founder Winston Burton urges marketers to stop thinking about Google and start focusing on platforms like Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, and Quora.
These platforms frequently show up in featured or zero-click spaces, and they are also increasingly being used as their own search engines.
💡 Either way, zero-click may not get you the traffic you want, but it increases brand awareness—so you can still reap the rewards.
⬆️ Themes that boost lead rates
Eager to turn more of your prospecting email recipients into leads?
Sopro’s State of Prospecting 2025 report includes useful insights on what types of messaging make the most impact on B2B prospecting email lead rates.
🔝 Here are the top 3 messaging tones and themes with the greatest impact:
Prior contact (called, your colleague, referred, spoke, spoken)
Assurance (approved, accredited, trusted, certified, verified)
Explaining (therefore, which means, to clarify, because, that means)
📂 And the types of subject lines they’re most likely to open:
Personalized with my name or company name
An offer
A question
The results are based on an analysis of more than 97.9 million B2B prospecting emails and a survey of 400 B2B buyers.

Up & Coming
A 2024 Forbes study found that Gen Z uses Google 25% less than Gen X—and another study found that nearly half of Gen Zers (and 35% of millennials) prefer social media over traditional search engines.
Why? Social platforms offer a more “visual, trend-driven, and real-time” experience.
In 2025, it’s important for businesses to start optimizing their content for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, or wherever your audience is spending their time.
