Superior talent is up to eight times more productive, a McKinsey study found.
But how do you find and attract this top talent, especially when you need to fill a position fast?
Let’s discuss.
Today’s agenda:
🤔 How to hire critical thinkers
🤖 Whatever happened to the AI pause?
🎙️ Don’t do this if you get on a podcast

The case for the critical thinker
The typical Q&A structure of job interviews fails to evaluate one of the most important skills, according to a recent piece from Harvard Business Review.
The skill? Critical thinking.
The authors define critical thinking as a “higher-order skill” that involves:
Gathering information from various sources
Assessing the credibility
Determining the relevance
The authors’ research found that the smartest person in the room isn’t the one with the answers, but the one asking the questions.
Executing a critical thinking interview
🤸 Flip the interview:
Describe a scenario, and explain you are the source of information
Invite interviewee to start the discovery process and ask questions
Throughout the interview, evaluate the quality of the questions they’re asking and whether the questions help them put the scenario in context.
🤔 The idea isn’t to see if they can solve the problem, but how they come to their conclusions and approach solving the problem.
What happened to an AI pause?
Remember when people like Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak signed an open letter six months ago calling for a pause on AI development?
Well, it didn’t happen.
The letter was shared by the nonprofit Future of Life Institute (FLI). Here’s what Max Tegmark, founder and president of FLI, says has happened since then:
The greatest success from the letter was to “mainstream the conversation” so more people felt safe to express their concerns about AI’s existential risks
However, “all the companies are still going full steam ahead and we still have no meaningful regulation in America”
Tegmark is pushing for an FDA-style agency to enforce AI rules
Tegmark says he can sense “even in private conversations” that tech CEOs truly want a good future with AI.
Make the most of your guest slot
Guest speaking on a podcast has become a growing marketing tool — but not everyone is doing it right.
🎙️ Media relations specialist Natasha Zo recently shared her thoughts for Entrepreneur on the major don’ts of your big moment:
Don’t be on just any podcast — know your audience
Don’t go in unprepared — know what you’re going to stay
Don’t forget a clear call to action — know your “hook”
Don’t send an assistant to pitch — know your personal approach
A successful guest appearance has the power to boost sales, position yourself as an expert, and build relationships. Use the opportunity wisely.
