How to rethink your objectives
When you get together with your team to discuss future objectives, do you find yourself disappointed with the results?
You’re not alone.
🥅 Graham Kenny, an expert in strategy and performance measurement, has some thoughts to turn your brainstorming sessions from vague, long lists to actionable, measurable objectives:
Shift perspective to ask what your organization wants from its key stakeholders (innovation from employees, revenue from customers, etc.)
Pinpoint “behavioral outcomes” for stakeholders
Turn these outcomes into clear, measurable organization objectives
Identify your KPIs
🔭 Kenny acknowledges that this perspective may seem obvious, but it helps management teams to focus more clearly on those measurable objectives.
Interviewing in 2023
In last week’s letter, we discussed how the Great Resignation is officially over.
🧑💼 However, that doesn’t mean it came without some lasting consequences. Priorities today have shifted to finding the right fit with a company that aligns with their goals.
As a result, employers have a greater responsibility to present themselves in the best light.
🗣️ Tips to conducting a great interview, via Forbes:
Research the candidate prior to the interview to show that you are interested in them as person
Demonstrate empathy via gratitude and understanding
Pay attention as you gather information about the candidate, including their speech, confidence, and eye contact
Prepare questions for them, but also prepare to answer difficult questions from the candidate
Present clear instructions for next steps and offer to give a tour of the office
Qualified candidates today have options, so it’s important for you to demonstrate that your company is capable of attracting top talent.
💪 What actions do you take to make a candidate feel confident in your company?
Do you need to use AI detection tools?
Does it matter whether marketers use generative AI? What if your clients start accusing you of using AI tools?
🤖 AI detection tools exist, but the problem is they aren’t very good yet — and might wrongly accuse a writer of plagiarism.
Kate Parish, CMO at Onilab, tested popular AI checkers for Content Marketing Institute and discovered the following:
AI Classifier, created by OpenAI, only has a true positive rate for detecting AI 26% of the time
GPTZero, the self-proclaimed “No. 1 AI detector,” missed text that was written by AI, but accurately detected human-generated content
Copyleaks accurately picked out both AI-generated & human-generated content
🖊️ If you choose to implement these tools, use them wisely and understand that at this point, they cannot be 100% accurate.
If you have clients who adopt these tools, share your research to help them understand the potential for error.
