🫶 Authenticity vs. trust
The shift to authenticity is a major marketing trend in the 2020s (and a successful one at that), but it’s worth considering exactly how we execute that authenticity.
In a new article from Robert Rose of Content Marketing Institute, Rose explores how authenticity, which is meant to build trust with our audience, isn’t always able to accomplish this.
How to build trust
As a founder, it isn’t easy to build trust through authentic content unless your audience believes in your expertise or credibility—and they may not yet!
Try one of these strategies to move forward:
Evolve slowly: Gradually evolve your story and ease the audience into it
Prove your trustworthiness: Allow the audience time to build trust in the storyteller, even if it means initially facing distrust
💡 The bottom line? There’s no shortcut to trust. Determine your path forward, and give your audience time to get to know you and trust you.

🫂 Integrating AI
Consider this:
Only 15% of leaders and managers consistently use generative AI in their daily work, according to a Capgemini Research Institute survey of more than 1,400 leaders and managers
40% of MBA and Master in Management students aged 23-30 use gen AI multiple times per day, according to a survey of more than 200 students
Nearly 40% of companies restrict AI access to specific groups
Gabriele Rosani and Elisa Farri of Capgemini examined this research for an article on the incoming generation of managers using genAI.
As the authors noted, this future isn’t far off—most of the students will be back in the workforce within the next year.
How are they using genAI?
Students are using genAI in two “modes”:
Executor: Writing, summarizing, coding, translating, etc.
Thought partner: Brainstorming, problem solving, challenging ideas
The article’s focus was on how organizations should respond and make space for this generation of workers.
What can founders do with this info?
As a startup founder, this research is an invitation to consider how you want to establish the parameters for AI at your organization and provide new hires access to these tools.
How will you integrate AI into your workflows and empower your new hires to innovate with it?
